Motion urging action to end new cases HIV by 2030 overwhelmingly passed by delegates

We successfully worked with Terrence Higgins Trust to table a motion to get the party officially supporting work to end new cases of HIV within the decade.

Cllr Kevin Brady spoke to the motion and underlined the need for urgent action to achieve this scientifically possible goal. Shadow Health Secretary, Jon Ashworth, Shadow Public Health Minister, Alex Norris, and Shadow Women and Equalities Minister, Taiwo Owatemi, welcomed the motion and called on the UK Government to fully fund its new HIV Action Plan (which will be the roadmap to the 2030 goal) and backed Terrence Higgins Trust, National AIDS Trust and Elton John AIDS Foundation’s campaign ahead of the Spending Review. Please give your support to this urgent campaign and write to Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid here (it only takes a few clicks): https://tht.org.uk/action

Committing to action in the fight against HIV as official party policy gives Labour a strong foundation to hold Ministers to account and mobilise activists.
