At the last AGM, members agreed to set up an International Working Group, in lieu of an International Officer, so that as many people as possible who are interested in advancing our international work can get involved.
Since then, the Committee have invited two former Co-Chairs, Ian Dylan Thomas and Sarah Kerton, to take forward the establishment of this working group. Since their time as Co-Chairs, Sarah became our International Officer, stepping down this year; and Ian has been Vice President of Rainbow Rose, an organisation we are members of, who work Europe-wide to advance LGBT+ rights. Both have long standing experience of working with our European partners and networks.
The International Working Group is very much intended to be a member-led body, working with the Committee to advance its aims and objectives with European and International partners, and to promote the work of LGBT+ Labour and the Labour Party to a diverse audience.
Therefore, you are invited to join an inaugural Zoom meeting with Sarah, Ian, and fellow members. This will take place on Thursday 2nd December at 7pm. You can register for the meeting below.
If you have an interest in a certain country or region of the world, or a passion for broad range issues such as LGBT+ migrants or the Istanbul Convention, then this is the best forum to progress these issues.
We will agree how the Working Group functions, and see what areas and issues you want to take up. This is very much a 'working group', so there is no expectation that you will do the work of others. It relies on your passion and motivation to get things done.
We hope you can join Sarah and Ian as we renew our international work.
