The LGBT+ Labour Councillors Network was established in September 2018. The Network exists to support Labour candidates and councillors who identify as LGBT+, and to encourage Labour run councils and Labour Groups in opposition to work towards making their local authorities more LGBT+ inclusive.
The Network is run jointly by LGBT+ Labour and the Local Government Association Labour Group. Since its formation last year, the Network has hosted a fringe event at Labour Local Government Conference on how Labour councils are supporting the LGBT community, has delivered a #BeACouncillor training session for trans Labour members, and is currently working on a toolkit for Labour councillors on how to advocate for LGBT+ inclusive Relationships Education.
