Where you can donate

If you have the means to make a financial donation then there are a number of organisations that desperately need your support financially:  


UK 

  • A fundraiser has been set up on GoFundMe for Black Lives Matter UK (BLMUK), a coalition of black activists and organisers from around the UK. The fundraiser is asking for donations in order to “support UKBLM’s work with black communities in the UK

  • The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, is an organisation that “aims to be a fitting legacy to Stephen’s memory” by supporting young people “to transform their lives by overcoming disadvantage and discrimination”, encouraging greater diversity in businesses and “continuing to campaign for fairness and justice”.

  • The United Families and Friends campaign supports those whose loved ones have died in police, prison or psychiatric custody. They raise money to support these families and campaign for transparency in the criminal justice system.

  • Stop Watch UK, an organisation that has been running for the past decade, is committed to promoting fair and accountable policing, making sure the public is informed about the use of stop and search and providing “legal support challenging stop and search”.

  • Support and donate to initiatives like the Black Learning Achievement and Mental Health charity that has some brilliant free black history resources, as well as developing school based projects to teach children about African and Afro-Carribean history and culture

  • ICFree is a group of black and brown young people in south London campaigning to end the criminalisation of black and brown youth in the criminal justice and education system.

UK LGBT+ 

  • UK Black Pride is Europe’s largest celebration for LGBTQ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Latin American descent. As well as the annual celebration during Pride month, they also run other activities throughout the year that promote and advocate for the spiritual, emotional and intellectual health and wellbeing of the communities they represent.

  • The future of colours youth network previously sat within white led organisations, this is the beginning of us building independently and taking ownership of the support provided for young Black and people of colour who are LGBT+ (QTIBPOC).

  • Exist Loudly Fund to Support Queer Black YP has been created by Tanya Compas and award-winning youth worker, community organiser and founder of Queer Black Christmas. Exist Loudly as an official organisation and create programming for Queer Black Young People. Young Queer Black people deserve a space for joy, space for community, space to find chosen family and a space to explore their identity as being both queer and Black, without feeling like they have to minimise or hide any parts of themselves. USA
 

  • Minnesota Freedom Fund is a non-profit organisation that provides funds for protesters who have been arrested and need to pay bail in order to avoid being imprisoned.

  • The Bail Project also provides funds to pay bail “to prevent incarceration and combat racial economic disparities in the bail system”. You can ensure your donation is split among several bail funds on the ActBlue website. These 37 bail funds include the Philadelphia Bail Fund, the LGBTQ Freedom Fund, the Community Justice Exchange National Bail Fund Network and the Mississippi Bail Fund Collective.
