Spreading some Valentine's Love on Canal Street
LGBT Labour north west will be out on Canal Street in Manchster over the weekend of 13th/14th February to celebrate Valentine's Day.
We'll be handing out specially comminnsioned card celebrating the acheivements in LGBT equality since 1997.
Anthony McCaul, Labours Campaigner for Manchester City Centre and LGBT Labour member said: "I'm proud of what Labour has delivered for LGBT people in the last 10 years. If you'd have asked people during the 80s when the conservatives were openly persecuting gay people through laws like section 28 whether they'd see the scale of change in laws and attitudes during their lifetime they would've said they were dreaming. Without the Labour government these changes would not have happened. It's as simple as that."
Bev Craig LGBT Labour North West Co-Chair added: "Our Labour loves you campaign this weekend is about reminding people that change doesn't happen by accident. The gains we've made could so easily be lost if the Conservatives gain power. While the Tories may want to lock lips with the LGBT community and get into bed with us it's merely lip service and a bad one night stand. Waking up to Tory rule after the election would be a five year hangover noone should want!"
