LGBT Labour AGM & Committee 2011
LGBT Labour held its AGM on Saturday 4th June which included elections to the LGBT Labour national committee for 2011-12.
A number of new positions were created including a Scottish convenor to co-ordinate our work in Scotland, an e-communications officer to co-ordinate all our work on social media and contact with members. A new membership officer post was created to improve our services to our members allowing the treasurer to focus on the campaigns finances, reflecting how much the campaign has grown over the last few years. We also welcomed a number of new people to the committee filling existing positions.
A new Welsh convenor post has been cretaed but remains vacant, if you're interested in the position please email lgbtlabour@ymail.org.uk
As well as new members we were sad to see a number of people leave the committee including Cllr Katie Hanson who retired as co-chair after 10 years in the role.
The AGM also re-affirmed LGBT Labour's position on campaigning for equal marriage, approved a plan to engage with the Labour Party on it's new re-founding Labour project and agreed to move forward with extending the campaign's regional groups.
It was also agreed to re-launch the Dorothy's List project as The Chris Smith List, which will be formally re-launched later in the year.
Details of the new committee can be found at www.lgbtlabour.org.uk/committee
