Liverpool City Region Mayoral Hustings

Labour Party members in Liverpool City Region will very soon be asked to select their candidate to contest the election in 2017 to become the first-ever elected Mayor for the city region. The Liverpool City Region Mayor will have a huge responsibility, working with the six local authorities on issues such as health, housing and transport.

LGBT Labour will not be supporting candidate in the process, but will be helping you to decide on who you want to support. So we have invited the three people hoping to become the Labour candidate for Liverpool City Region Mayor, to a special hustings event. This will be your opportunity to ask them questions about LGBT issues in the city region, and what they would do if elected to the role.

The hustings will take place as part of Liverpool Pride weekend, on:

Friday 29 July at 7pm,

1st Floor, Unite the Union, Jack Jones House, 2 Churchill Way, Liverpool L3 8EF

The three candidates are:

Joe Anderson, Mayor for Liverpool

Luciana Berger, MP for Liverpool Wavertree

Steve Rotheram, MP for Liverpool Walton

The candidates (or if they are unable to attend, representatives) will open the hustings by each making a short opening statement. They will then take questions from the audience, so if you have a question you specifically want to ask the candidates, please email this to Chris Wills at The candidates will then make closing statements and the hustings will conclude at around 8.30pm.

How to get there

There is a car park at the venue, plus an extra car park opposite on Fraser Street. The venue is about 5 minutes’ walk from Lime Street Station. It is also near a number of bus routes.
