Marriage equality in Argentina

samesex marriage symbolArgentina today became the 10th country worldwide (as well as some US states) to introduce equal marriage laws which will allow same couples to marry on the same basis as opposite sex couples.

This was after a fierce debate in the Parliament and opposition from religious groups and makes Argentina the first country in Latin America to introduce mariage equality.

The UK introduced Civil Partnerships into law in 2005 under Labour which allows for equality between same and opposite sex couples. LGBT Labour is committed to working towards complete equality in marriage for same sex couples as well as equality in Civil Partnerships for straight couples that want them.
