Jordan was born and raised in Harwich, Essex. He spent five years working in Parliament as an aide to two Labour MPs before moving into the charity and voluntary sector. Jordan now works for Volunteering England, an independent agency that supports the work of volunteers across the country.

Locally, he was the Chairman of Tendring District Council's Youth Forum when it was first formed and subsequently spent two years representing North Essex as a Member of the UK Youth Parliament. Jordan is also active in the local community and serves works with a number of local organisations including Colchester CVS and the Colchester Institute.
