Happy 35th Birthday

On the 10th October 1974 a General Election took place. After that election a group got together to form the Gay Labour Group. Although the exact date is lost to history October 1974 was the first time an organised group of gay activists had started to organise within the Labour Party.

IN the late 70s, The Gay Labour Group became The Labour Campaign for Gay Rights, in the 80s it chnaged to The Labour Campaign for Lesbian and Gay Rights and a few years ago The Labour Campaign for Lesbian, Gay, Bsexual and Transgender Rights - LGBT Labour.

This month is our 35th birthday. We're looking forward to continued successful campaiging in the years ahead and we pay tribute to those who had the foresight to join together and found the campaign 35 years ago!

The LGBT Labour has its roots in 1975 when some Labour Party members, previously active within the Young Socialists and the Campaign for Homosexual Equality, formed the Gay Labour Caucus and began to develop a voice within the Party and the Labour movement. They started...
