Elections 2016

On Thursday 5th May the country goes to the polls in the biggest set of elections after the General Election. There are elections this May for the Welsh Assembly, Scottish Parliament, London Assembly, Mayors of London, Bristol, Salford and Liverpool, Police and Crime commissioners and local councillors.

There are LGBT Labour members standing across the country for election. The list below shows the candidates standing for election (or re-election) for Parliamentary and Assembly seats or for Police Commissioner posts. We will be out campaigning for them.

Scottish Parliament

Kezia Dugdale - Lothian

Kezia is leader of the Scottish Labour Party and has been the MSP for Lothian region since 2011.

Sean Morton - Moray

Sean is Scottish Labour's candidate for Moray. He has been the councillor for Moray, Fochabers-Lhanbryde since 2011. He contested the Moray seat in the 2015 general election.

Paul O'Kane - Renfrewshire South

Paul is contesting his home seat of Renfrewshire South. He has been a local councillor since 2012.

 

Welsh Assembly

Hannah Blythyn - Delyn

Hannah Blythyn is a former chair of LGBT Labour and having grown up in Flintshire she  is contesting her home seat of Delyn.

Jeremy Miles - Neath

Jeremy is contesting his home seat. He was brought up in Pontarddulais and is a Welsh speaker. He has previously stood for election to the House of Commons.

 

London Assembly

Emily Brothers - London wide

Emily Brothers is standing for Labour on the London wide list. Last year she contest the south London seat of Sutton & Cheam in the General Election as Labour's first trans Parliamentary candidate. She the former President of the National Federation of the Blind

Tom Copley - London wide

Tom Copley has been a member of the GLA since 2012 and is standing on the London wide list

 

Police and Crime Commissioners

Olly Martins - Bedfordshire

Olly has been the PCC for Bedfordshire since 2011. He is an army reservist (having served with UN peace keeping forces in Cyprus) and is a former councillor.

Kevin McKeever - Northamptonshire

Kevin is our candidate in Northamptonshire. Last year he was Labour's candidate for Northampton South in the General Election. 

Tristan Osborne - Kent

Tris is standing for his local area of Kent, he is councillor in Medway and last year was the Parliamentary candidate for Chatham and Aylesford. He is also a former special constable
