On Thursday 4 May voters in Lancashire go to the polls in the Lancashire County Council elections. There are two LGBT Labour candidates standing in these elections: Sean Serridge and Steve Hughes. Sean is defending his seat in Whitworth and Bacup, whilst Steve is aiming to win the key marginal seat of Rossendale South, which the Tories held last time by just 162 votes. Winning these seats is critical if Labour is to remain the largest party on Lancashire County Council.
We have organised a campaign day for Sean and Steve on Saturday 25 February. Details as follows:
Morning: meet 10.30am at Bacup Fire Station, junction of Pennine Road and Rochdale Road, Bacup OL13 9PZ - we will be campaigning for Sean in Whitworth and Bacup
Afternoon: meet 2pm at Haslingden Fire Station, Manchester Road, Haslingden BB4 6NL - we will be campaigning for Steve in Rossendale South
We will be breaking for lunch between these two sessions.
If you are travelling on public transport, the most frequent service is the X43 bus from Manchester, which goes to Rawtenstall - Sean and Steve and the team can then arrange lifts from Rawtenstall to the campaign venues. Therefore, please RSVP to let us know you are coming and if you need a lift.
